Two masters — one on the kora, a traditional African instrument, the other on the cello, a Western classical instrument — visited each other's homes on their days off and built this record out of relaxed sessions. Made right when interpretations like "chamber music" (as the title says) and "post-classical" were emerging, it syncs beautifully with the miracle era of neo-folklore from Argentina's Carlos Aguirre and company. Released on NO FORMAT, the Paris label at the heart of world music. Of course, you can ignore all that context and just feel it. Call it organic ambient — it's wonderful.
