The title track "Solaire" is a free jazz masterpiece in which a trinity of rapid-fire piano, pressing drums, and serene double bass pile up with unbridled passion. The lyrical chord progression at the song's climax is simply stunning. This 1971 trio project, led by keyboardist/flutist SIEGFRIED KESSLER, known for his collaborations with ARCHIE SHEPP and GILLES ELBAZ, gets its first-ever reissue! Highly recommended.

The latest work from 〈SOUFFLE CONTINU〉, the label reviving French jazz with releases headlined by works from JEF GILSON, a key figure in the cutting-edge jazz of the '60s and '70s! This time they turn to SIEGFRIED KESSLER, who left behind numerous classics in the French free jazz scene. GUS NEMETH of "THE HAL SINGER JAZZ QUARTET" is on double bass, with STU MARTIN on drums. A remastered reissue of a hidden treasure that moves between modal jazz and contemporary composition, featuring "Solaire" (sample1), where the piano leaps in after an intro of overdubbed flutes, plus drum breaks on "Drum" (sample2) and more!
