Beta Librae—who has been gaining attention as a producer and DJ at the forefront of NYC’s cutting-edge electronic dance music scene—has released a new album on 〈Incienso〉, the label run by Anthony Naples and Jenny Slattery. It is now available on vinyl and as a digital download. This is a must-listen.

"Penny Universities" features beat science seemingly inspired by the complex rhythms of world music, a groove centered around synth basslines, dubwise elements, a deep, immersive soundscape, and modern techno soul. The digital lead single, “Late At Night,” features James K, who has also released tracks on labels such as 〈UNO NYC〉 and 〈AD 93〉. She has also released music with DJ Richard and others as part of Funky Doodle on 〈ANNO〉, as well as solo releases on 〈Incienso〉; she is a unique figure in the Brooklyn underground scene who is also a visual artist and cosplayer. The artwork is by Jenny Slattery, a photographer and label representative. The 〈Incienso〉 scene continues to deliver great releases. (Original Japanese text by Saito)

Beta Librae returns to Incienso with her third album, “DAYSTAR”. Whereas her previous album for the label, “Sanguine Bond” was an altogether more heady affair - “DAYSTAR”, like the name implies, is a bright and bold waypoint in the ever expanding Beta Librae universe.

On eight songs, including a striking collaboration with james K on the lead single “Late At Night”, Beta gathers up new elements of sound and pairs them her unmistakable rhythmic shapes to bring us the most wide-ranging and cohesive B.L. album yet.
