The first of three consecutive 7" EP singles — dropping in July, September, and November — from "Mai Mishio with Goodfellas," the band assembled around singer-songwriter Mai Mishio, has arrived: "The Faces Of Summer." Released on her own new label, Lemon House Inc.
「幼少の頃、1980年代から90年代。好きな歌手やミュージシャンがコンスタントにリリースするシングル盤が好きだった。毎回、表情の異なる作品が楽しみで購入していた。シングル盤だからこその軽妙さや、アルバムとは異なる試みを感じる１曲だけを延々聴き続ける味わい方も好きだった。それを思い出して、それぞれ架空の化粧品CMの依頼がきたとか、ドラマのエンディング曲オファーがきたとかを勝手に自分で想像しながら作っている時間が楽しかった。はなからシングルで出す曲だと思って作りました」見汐麻衣談。
With the previous release "Wednesday/Eternity As Instant," whose artwork was handled by Shintaro Sakamoto, still enjoying long-running sales, three consecutive 7" EP singles have been confirmed for July, September, and November! The first of them, "The Faces Of Summer," is out now.
This first installment features Side A, "The Faces Of Summer" (sample 1), a languid, wistful slice of melancholy summer mellow groove with faint harmonies and a spacious sound, wrapped in a flavorful band arrangement that ultimately lands squarely in pop territory. Side B offers an even deeper, richer instrumental version, "The Faces Of Summer (instrumental)" (sample 2). Details on the second and third installments are to be announced.
