Piano Works Vol.1 (Floating In Tucker's Basement)

Peter Broderick, who showed off overwhelming skill on his fall 2023 Japan tour! A gorgeous solo piano work. Originally the sheet music for this album was released first. Produced by the maverick Tucker Martine.

A solo piano work by Peter Broderick, a singular talent who moves freely between piano pieces often filed under post-classical and vocal albums of Americana/British folk played on guitar and banjo. Released in 2023. He made it quietly while staying in Ireland on an artist residency, looking back through the archive of his own piano pieces. The sound is too plainspoken to call ambient or post-classical. Utterly lovely. Something to keep on repeat.
And remarkably, one of the producers is Tucker Martine, the man who recorded "Broken Hearted Dragonflies (Insect Electronica From Southeast Asia)," the finest oddity in the entire Sublime Frequencies catalogue. What a strangely layered work this is... well worth hearing alongside that one.
In any case, his Japan shows displayed overwhelming ability. A wonderful record that owes nothing to trends. (Original Japanese text by Shhhhh)
