Here it is! Out of the countless titles on Cuba's state label EGREM, this rarest of rarities finally gets a reissue. An Afro-Cuban foundation fused with '70s psychedelic funk and disco sounds. Though it was a playful side project from producer Jorge Soler León, it has quietly built a following — the CD was even reissued in Japan. A labor of love from MR BONGO.

Full-on Latin phrasing and busy playing can run a little too hot — here it's toned down to just the right degree. Maybe this is exactly the texture behind why certain Latin music got filed under "mondo" back in the '90s. Now that we've all passed through South American electronics and ambient music, this lightness and mellow psych feel hits oddly right. And for us here at the shop, above all, it includes THAT track sampled in the intro of ALTZ's first album. All in all, a 1977 Cuban gem full of fun, poppy backstories.
