From the end of the '60s into the '90s, Italy's Ugo Busoni made his name as a composer of library music — the kind of background scoring used in news broadcasts and radio programs the world over. Highlights include "Tokyo" (sample_3), a Tokyo-inspired piece with fuzz, wah and chimes played in an Oriental mode; the psychedelic, hypnotically beautiful "Starne" (sample_1); and "Raid" (sample_2), a jazz-rock cut you could easily spin alongside Khruangbin. As you'd expect from music made for public broadcast, every track balances adventurousness with pure listening pleasure. A favorite among fans of outsider and exotica sounds as well.
