bié Records, a label based in Beijing. I first heard the name in connection with a release by YU SU. Launched in 2021, the label features artists with connections in China and abroad, such as Howie Lee and Valentina Magaletti of Tomaga, Valentina Magaletti of Tomaga, Kink Gong—known as a specialist in Asian ethnic music—and Taiwan’s Lin Qiang, and has garnered attention for releases such as a collaboration with Shika Shika. The project features artist Shen Xiupeng—who creates video works, visuals, and objects—alongside Singaporean multimedia artist Farizi Noorfauzi (who also goes by the name fxrxzx), as well as Savedher. from LA and Nickysofttouch from the Ghost Notes crew in Bristol. The artwork is by Tom Ng of Gong Gong Gong, a central figure at the label. bié Records is creating an exciting scene by bringing together a diverse range of artists, primarily from across Asia.
