An occult psych guitar instrumental record gets the reissue treatment! With the promise that "you can attain transcendental consciousness without spending ten years in a Tibetan monastery," American guitarist/synth player Wilburn Burchette sold his "Psychic Meditation Course" — instrumental records of guitar and electronic instruments complete with listening instructions — via mail order. NUMERO GROUP now reissues the second of the seven albums he created as keys to unlocking the seven levels of consciousness: 'Opens the Seven Gates of Transcendental Consciousness' ('72)! Includes a 12-page original full-color booklet.

Captivated by parapsychology from the age of 12, Wilburn Burchette spent as much time reading books on the fundamentals of Tibetan mysticism as he did practicing guitar. After years spent teaching classical guitar, he released the seven albums of the "Psychic Meditation Course" over the seven years from 1971 to 1977 — then abruptly burned everything connected to his musical pursuits (!!). Different from the trance induced by the continuity of Ash Ra Tempel's 'Inventions for Electric Guitar' ('75), here psychedelia is conjured through chord work, delay, echo, and noise.
