"Ambien Baby," a project by D Tiffany and NAP, has the feel of a 12-inch vinyl release from Turbo Recordings. The old-school science fiction and cyberpunk aesthetic is fantastic. In addition to the three original tracks, it features remixes by Roza Terenzi and DNGDNGDNG (aka Dengue Dengue Dengue!).

Ambien Baby is the collaborative project by D Tiffany and NAP, which serves as a borderless zone for both friends to channel a freewheeling experimentation with whatever sounds they happen to be jiving with in the moment. Simply put, Ambien Baby is two BFF's letting loose with no rules, just pure freak and joy. The nature of this joint exploration is clearly evident throughout their raucous and varied releases, which have ranged from downtempo to electro and deep into techno and trance regions.

The Canadian connection bears fruit with the Masa EP, which lifts off from a psychedelic foundation drenched in Latin influence. D Tiffany—who has been based in Vancouver’s underground scene, creating psychedelic dance music ranging from house and electro to a “trance roots” approach that flourished uniquely in Canada during the ’90s—and Ambien Baby, a project by NAP (who has also released music under names like La fe), have signed with Turbo Recordings. Single release. The unique soundscape—blending IDM, breakbeat, progressive, old-school early trance, and lo-fi techno psychedelia—is simply brilliant. Featuring a remix (sample 3) by close collaborator Roza Terenzi and the Peruvian group Dengue Dengue Dengue—who enjoy cult-like popularity at our store—this is a truly inspired release.
