A Large Sheet Of Muscle is the project of Lewis Johnston, aka the notoriously eccentric genius Wanda Group, based in Yorkshire, England. Surrealism, psychedelia, DIY spirit and every strain of contemporary electronics intersect here to create something like a miracle — a beat-tape-style set with 13 tracks per side, 26 in all, that pulls you in and holds you spellbound. Amazingly, the whole thing was made on a single cell phone. Released on The Trilogy Tapes, the label run by Will Bankhead, a name Newtone regulars know well!

Your body floats in midair, cut off from the space around you, as if you'd been warped into the fragments of sound A Large Sheet Of Muscle has assembled, drifting dreamlike through all kinds of eras. Experimental music, electronics and surrealism experienced to the fullest — an absolutely stunning record. Leading the way is "Entertaining The Clock Mirror" (Sample 1), packed with everything that makes DIY music great, followed by the wonderful "salvadorian sniper" (Sample 2), strange and folky yet exotic, with a primal human warmth somewhere inside it.
