A project based on the actual landslide catastrophe that occurred at Vajont, Italy, exploring the theme of present-day Vajont and, more broadly, disaster itself. A sound art work giving form to elusive interpretations: the sensation of falling, the movement and rupture of the earth, the people who once lived there, the echoes of the past. 2025 repress.

This expansive double pack from Silentes finds each side of vinyl taken up by one long, ever-evolving piece of music based around one original. Gianluca Favaron & Stefano Gentile go first with their take on 'Landslide,' which goes from whirring machines sounds to brain cleansing sine waves and found sound abstraction. Dub techno don Rod Modell explores emptiness on 'Landslide' (Reworked) and Carl Michael Von Hausswolf's take is an eerie one with scratchy textures and filtered synth meanderings. Rod Modell then closes out with another rework of his own remix that will leave you adrift in space.
On the night of October 9, 1963, some 260 million cubic meters of rock broke away from the slope of Monte Toc. It plunged into the reservoir of the Vajont Dam, then one of the largest dams in the world, and although the dam itself suffered no serious damage, the collapse sent up a colossal wave of at least 50 million cubic meters of water and mud, whose flooding destroyed several villages in the valley and claimed around 2,000 lives. The Piave valley was buried under an enormous mass of mud and rubble, transformed into a bleak, lunar landscape. Inspired by the history of this disaster, here is a soundscape approached from four perspectives with movement and sedimentation as its keywords: a landslide of sound. This 4-track split 2LP pairs the original version by Gianluca Favaron and Stefano Gentile, a duo from the Italian experimental scene, with a remix by Swedish luminary Carl Michael von Hausswolff and a rework by Detroit dub techno master Rod Modell.
