A tribute release from Black Truffle collecting two new masterful vocal performances by the great Italian singer Amelia Cuni (1958–2024), known for her collaborations with Terry Riley, who spent the latter half of her life in Berlin and passed away in 2024. Black vinyl LP with download code.

A pure, richly weathered, smoky spiritual/meditative raga masterpiece by Amelia Cuni, a dhrupad adept who studied for over a decade in India with masters of the North Indian classical vocal tradition of dhrupad, while deepening her exploration of experimental contemporary music approaches.
The project began when Cuni and her partner Werner Durand drew on a long recording of Amelia Cuni singing the pentatonic Raga Bhoop (or Bhopali), made by Durand in Berlin in 2012, layering it with violinist Silvia Tarozzi and cellist Deborah Walker's performance of Éliane Radigue's 'Occam River II.' Inspired by the beauty of this chance encounter (and by experiments in asynchronous collaboration during the pandemic), Tarozzi and Walker recorded separately without hearing Cuni's voice, 'keeping her present in their memory,' resulting in Side A's 'Melopea' (sample1), alongside the profound, meditative, ever-deepening Side B 'Bhoop - Murchana' (sample2).
