Loren Oden is a singer with a delicately captivating voice who has worked as a backing vocalist for the likes of Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan and Erykah Badu, and has become an indispensable presence on Adrian Younge's records as a backing singer. The playing here is superb, blending '70s soul, '90s hip hop and neo-soul, and contemporary jazz styles beautifully — and Loren Oden's voice fits right in, equally sublime. There's the mid-tempo "Words To Say" (sample 1), with its irresistible 808 cowbell and electric piano intro; the cool, D'Angelo-esque rhythmic approach of "All Roads" (sample 2); and the flow of the B-side, with its restrained beats, mellow, dreamy tracks and exchanges of gorgeous harmony, is enough to melt you away...
