- Release: 2025-09-26

This is a rare treasure of the 1990's DIY cheap fusion yet somewhat crazy 90's smooth jazz style, which was produced for the Capel TV weather channel in the US (the channel was bought out and disappeared soon after a few airings, it seems), but never released. The album is now available on analog LP from Athens Of The North, and is a rare treasure of the 90's smooth jazz-inspired, somewhat insane, DIY cheap fusion style that has never been released! Limited to 500 copies on cloud-colored vinyl.

This is a collection of 13 songs created for the Weather Channel by Paul Coleman, a Chicago musician active since the 60s and 70s, and his bands Fabulous Epics, Rasputin's Stash, and Crystal Winds.
The music has an exquisite DIY cheapness and fusion smooth jazz background music feel, as one would expect from the background music of a cable TV weather channel, but with a slight hint of Chicago house and fourth world new age ambient,
Athens Of The The Theatre is a trip psychedelic music world of outsider music that will melt your brain the more you listen to it, with its exhilarating and peculiar performance madness.
Athens Of The North's unique and nice release.
Athens Of The North is a unique and nice release.
*****
"An executive at the Weather Channel was dating Corky Brown's daughter and promised me a huge reward if I could produce and submit an original song. I immediately went into superman mode and began composing and programming at the rate of one song a day. I immersed myself in the process day and night in order to produce songs as quickly as possible.
It was aired several times before the Capel TV weather channel in the US was bought out, but no compensation was ever paid."- Paul Coleman2025
