The record was made after a stay in the tropical surroundings of his grandparents' small, pastoral community in northern Jamaica. Drawing on the lush nature of the gardens, the island's indigenous Taíno people, and the legend of a witch who lured Spanish settlers into a trap — along with the hardship-filled history of the Jamaican people he learned about through his own roots, the struggle against colonialism, and family legacy and pride — the album collects eight tracks packed with a wide range of musical elements.
