Alexis Georgopoulos, aka Arp — leader of experimental space-rock group The Alps, with releases on Mexican Summer and Smalltown Supersound, plus a collaboration with Slapp Happy's Anthony Moore on Rvng Intl. — delivers a new album for Pedro Vian's Modern Obscure Music. Moving on from the art-pop of his previous record, he edges toward ambient and glitch. Organic improvisations on harp, violin, viola and cello coexist with sculptural electronic sound built in the studio, unfolding into something beautiful and expansive: a half-waking sound that keeps its distance from both the club and the concert hall.
