In 1971, producer Francis Dreyfus—who had been commissioned to create soundscapes for public spaces such as airports and libraries—entrusted the project to Jean-Michel Jarre, a newcomer who had just signed with his record label. Using only an EMS VCS3 and a Farfisa organ, This experimental and minimalist work—a completely DIY, handcrafted creation made entirely in his own room—can be seen as a harbinger of the musical world he would later create.
