Sampling CROWN HEIGHTS AFFAIR, one of the definitive groups of '70s NY disco, plus the contemporaneous four-piece female vocal group SOFTOUCH! Curated by Italian master digger PASSENGER, this is volume 11 of the popular rare groove edit series "LIGHT TOUCHES." Once again, the tracks are carefully edited for the floor with no overdubs, bringing out the charm of the originals. Vinyl-only release limited to 300 copies — don't sleep on it.

"LIGHT TOUCHES" has so far cooked up everything from obscure Afro and Brazilian cuts to disco in youthful, killer fashion, but this time it takes on '70s US disco head-on. First up is a 1978 cut by female chorus outfit SOFTOUCH — whose ranks included CANDI of MARY JANE GIRLS — "Be My Fortune Teller," a hidden gem of disco funk with addictive, acid-tinged freewheeling bass playing and killer shouts dropping in out of nowhere. On the flip, CROWN HEIGHTS AFFAIR, who stood right at the center of the '70s NY disco scene: the psychedelic funk groover "Foxy Lady" with its powerfully blaring brass, and "I Am Me," whose pumping, nasal, comical vocal delivery is seriously habit-forming. This time the edits come not from PASSENGER but from FRAWL and BLACKOUT, Irish underground heroes and the founders/residents of Limerick's celebrated party "Backwards"! As always, no repress — first come, first served. (Original Japanese text by Akie)
