Blending elements of cut-up versions of famous tracks, avant-garde techno, rave, shoegaze, and trance—and despite being released only on CD and as a 12-inch sampler— (later reissued as a 2LP set), The Field—known for “From Here We Go Sublime” (KOMPAKT), a cross-genre hit and iconic album of 2000s electronic music—is releasing a new album via Studio Barnhus, their first since 2018.

A long-awaited comeback release from Sweden’s Studio Barnhus—an artist from my hometown whose musical style, in hindsight, feels quite closely connected to mine—and currently one of the most dynamic labels in the country. A five-track EP released under the name The Field. It features distortion reminiscent of My Loody Valentine and shoegaze, essences of techno-psychedelia à la MIKE INK., a progressive house/trance vibe that’s still very much alive, and the overwhelming energy that has earned him a following even in the mainstream.
