While continuing his work with Akufen, Marc Leclair began this project as a personal tribute to celebrate the fact that three close friends had all become pregnant at the same time. Over the course of seven years, he refined every detail to create this meticulously crafted album. The track titles range from “Day 1” to “Day 236,” tracing the entire cycle of pregnancy. While retaining the intricate minimalism, glitch, and dance sensibilities of his micro-sampling work, the album features a relaxed soundscape permeated by organic electronic tones and ambient textures that seem to have been cultivated in amniotic fluid. We’ve reportedly received many messages from women who listened to this work throughout their pregnancies and found it emotionally supportive. I believe there is something truly immeasurable here. Rooted in his own experience as a father, this is a meditative masterpiece that explores the strange sense of time inherent in pregnancy and the mystery of the life process.
