Needless to say, the title track is absolutely fantastic, but this 12-inch reissue faithfully reproduces the track listing of the original CD release from that era, featuring the A1 single version “Virtual Insanity (Single Edit)” (sample1), the elegant, organically driven drum-and-bass-infused funky soul track A2, “Do You Know Where You’re Coming From (Original Mix)” (sample 2), the upbeat jazz-funk B1 “Bullet” with its breakbeats and scratching, and the 5-minute-40-second album version of the title track, “Virtual Insanity (Album Version)” (sample 3), which features a superb second half brimming with love for Stevie Wonder—it’s a real treat to have all of these included.
The groundbreaking music video directed by Jonathan Glazer is a must-see classic that remains evergreen. It continues to influence artists to this day.
