Format

7inch ---- JPY

This is a recommended disc! Inspired by the Mandinka people of West Africa and their unique concept of "Jaliya" (cultural system), their storyteller "Jali", and their own tuning method "Tomora Inspired by the unique tuning method of "tomorra". A contemporary jazz masterpiece with a melody that gently touches your heart and intoxicates you with the beautiful sound of the harp. A special 7" of "SONS OF JUMIRA," a trio of double bass, drums, and harp.

SONS OF JUMIRA, a trio project that confronts contemporary jazz with a dual focus on cultural inspiration and a passion for pushing the boundaries of the universe, is now stocking its debut 7-inch! Recorded live at NOIIS, an importantvenue in Zurich where music lovers gather. Inspired by the traditional role of "storyteller, musician, and heir to history" of the Mandinka people, an ethnic group spread throughout West Africa, and by the concept of "jariya", which refers to their cultural system. This is a warm and penetrating harp-jazz piece that uses "tomora," a tuning unique to the tribe. The album couples "Jaliyahs' Lament," a sweetly sentimental harp overlaid with a sedimentary mood and rhythm, with "Tomora," a lively harp and hand drum piece that turns the tables on the listener.
