Lowertown is a duo that emerged from Atlanta’s DIY scene. This concept album centers on the story of Dale, a duckling who, along with his friends, takes on the dominant media conglomerate LBH. Drawing on the group’s own experiences of building a community through music, the album explores themes of connection with friends and “belonging.”

Formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2018 and now based in New York, this indie rock duo consists of Olivia Osby and Avsha Weinberg. They’ve released their past three albums on *Dirty Hit*, and this new release comes from the up-and-coming L.A. label *Summer Shade*. Blending indie rock, post-punk, folk, and experimental pop, they’ve created a sound that’s both charming and slightly off-the-wall. Their anthemic songwriting, as heard in tracks like “Big Thumb” (sample_3), is emotionally resonant and compelling. The release includes a handbook explaining their artistic vision.
