This album, *Oro en Tí*, could perhaps be translated as “The Shining Thing Within You.” Sofia Viola, my partner on this project, also has an interesting background: she started out with tango and underground theater in the suburbs of Buenos Aires, then traveled throughout South America, incorporating cumbia, bolero, Andean music, rock, theater, humor, and the mystical—all of which she has absorbed into her own songs. She is a powerful, self-composing and self-performing troubadour who defines the worldview of this album.

Once mentioned in the same breath as Nicolás Cruz and Barriolindo, and categorized under genres like digital cumbia and glocal, her music is now transcending those labels to take shape as a stripped-down, no-frills form of chanchá. The “height”—in every sense of the word—inherent in folclore: as you listen, you become aware of the thin air, a solitary path leading to even greater heights.

Even setting aside the South American context, this can be enjoyed as a unique form of ambient dub. (Original Japanese text by Shhhhh)
