A new series has been released by the Munich-based vinyl-only label 〈DIFFERENT TIMES〉 (the first release sold out immediately upon arrival)! Originally launched as a unit project in the early ’90s and active during the dawn of the U.S. rave scene, AUTO KINETIC continues to energetically pioneer techno through live performances that make full use of hardware and their releases. Led by the deep-low techno track “Is this still available” (sample 1)—which uses a heavy, driving kick drum in sync with the bass as its driving force, while high-pitched synths create a layered structure through repetition—this is the work of a veteran artist who crafts a rich, meaty soundscape rooted in minimalism with delicate, nuanced developments.
