"Yuzo Toyota," one of the most influential figures in the Kansai folk music scene, traveled alone to Jamaica in 1980 and recorded "Jamaica of My Dreams"—a pioneering work of "Japanese reggae" created in collaboration with local musicians at the renowned Tuff Gong Studios—now reissued on 7-inch vinyl!! Featuring Nyabinghi percussion, a dry soundscape, and stinging lyrics, this is a monumental masterpiece of bluesy Japanese reggae by a pioneer—a track that resonates deeply and lingers in the soul.

The latest release from the reissue project by EXHUME EXHUME PRODUCTION × HMV RECORD SHOP!!
In 1980, when production first began, they were completely in the dark. Created through trial and error, this album blends a thick, rich, roots-rock-style performance with authentic sound—featuring a Japanese folk-inspired vocal style and sharp, socially conscious lyrics—resulting in a one-of-a-kind, deeply flavorful fusion of Japanese and Jamaican influences. The B-side, “Taiwan” (sample 2), with its blend of Japanese dandyism, Chicago, and new soul, is a delightful addition. This is the first-ever 7-inch release, featuring a high-quality remaster.
