The Delights of a Nordic Jazz Sound Bath! Chamber-music-style, psychedelic improvisation centered around the contemporary jazz flute. Centered around Henriette Eilertsen—a flutist who has garnered attention for exploring the possibilities of the flute in the contemporary music scene and for being the first person in Norway to earn a bachelor’s degree in jazz performance—the trio, featuring Joel Ring (cello/electronics) and Øystein Aarnes Vik (drums), and have completed their debut album, *Moder* (Mother).
Track List

Featured on Bandcamp as one of the best jazz albums of March 2026. This trio features Henriette Eilertsen on flute—who has moved from solo experimentation to participating in various projects—alongside cello and drums, creating an unconventional lineup. It maintains a perfect balance between meticulous composition and free-spirited improvisation, traversing the boundaries between chamber music and free jazz. The 10-track album is grounded in acoustic performance while being delicately colored by abstract electronic sounds and effects. The performance goes beyond typical jazz flute expression to deliver a mesmerizing sound that seems to expand the very capabilities of the instrument. On three tracks, Norwegian jazz heavyweight Jon Balke—who has released numerous works on ECM—joins on piano. This album has all the makings of a classic. Released by Motvind Records, the label division of Motvind Kulturlag, which also organizes festivals and publishes magazines in Norway. (Original Japanese text by Adachi)
