Renowned as the first-ever house album, born in Chicago in 1984, it blends the essence of electro, boogie, and punk-funk-disco elements from acts like Liquid Liquid—this album captures the eclectic charm of the very moment Chicago house was born and continues to be cherished by house music lovers: Z-Factor by Jesse Saunders and Vince Lawrence. A historic album.

Proto jackin’ hip-house/punk-funk from the third coast. Originally issued in 1984 on Chicago’s scene-defining Mitchbal label, Z-Factor’s Dance Party Album is where boyhood friends Jesse Saunders and Vince Lawrence reinvented the 909 for the Warehouse, WBMX, and beyond. Come for the spaced-out, lo-fi Italo synths, stay for the micro-bud-get four-on-the-floor drum machine rattles.
