A new release from Phil Struck, an ambient/experimental artist from Kiel, Germany, who has released works on labels such as 〈Séance Centre〉, 〈Mondoj〉, and 〈Quiet Time Tapes〉. This organic ambient work captures a certain atmosphere and sense of “home” that gradually accumulated as he walked through the city of Kiel and its surroundings countless times and continued to explore the area by bicycle. Phil Struck’s “homecoming” album, inspired by his experience returning to his hometown of Kiel—a port city on the Baltic Sea—after living abroad for many years. An intensely personal inner landscape where acoustic tones, subtle electronic sounds, field recordings, and a Fourth World-inspired organic quality blend together. Echoing titles like “Ufer” and “Durch den Dunst”—which evoke scenes of Kiel—the music abstracts the physical sensations and memories of life there. Highly recommended for ambient jazz fans, this is an album to savor over time. It is the latest release from the German label *Cosima Pitz*, which started as a small print shop, expanded into a cassette label featuring artists like Ayami Suzuki in its catalog, and began releasing vinyl last year.
