Led by veteran Al Campbell, who has been active since the ’60s, The Uniques were reformed in the ’90s with members including Jimmy Riley and Cornell Campbell. “Danger” retains the feel of classic roots while adapting it to the digital sound of the ’90s; it features Al Campbell’s soulful vocals and processed voice gradually rising above a simple stepper beat in Niney’s understated production. The B-side features a dub version of “Lotion Zone” released under the name The Observers. This is a superb record by men who know Jamaican roots music inside and out, performed in the digital environment of their time. (Original Japanese text by Adachi)
