TROOP MUSIC WORKS - Cat No: TMW-004
- updated:2026-10-10
A new release from Troop Music Works, a label headed by Masafumi Onishi—known as Telly—who served as manager of the now-defunct Troop, a legendary venue that helped shape Kobe’s music scene, and currently works as a booking manager at Bar Inc. Following their previous release, this is a collaboration between DJ Duct—a unique turntablist who has been performing since the late ’90s using just a single turntable and a variety of effects—and beatmaker/producer Masafumi “Telly” Onishi. TMW-004.
Track List
DCTL Members is a unit formed by Masafumi Onishi, aka TELLY, the label owner of Troop Music Works, and DJ DUCT, who is renowned for his turntable skills that span a wide range of genres, from Hip Hop and Rare Groove Funk to Detroit Techno and Deep House. For this upcoming EP, they feature Shu Suzuki, a multi-instrumentalist who lends his versatile talents to the project.
This time, by blending musical instruments with the raw warmth of analogue gear and rough, sampler-and-rhythm-machine-driven sequences, the sound has evolved into something even more energetic and full of DIY spirit.

Drawing on disco and funk as its sources, this vintage house vibe—which evokes the early house scenes of Chicago and NYC—makes full use of MPC-style sampling techniques and an editing sensibility. The release features four tracks: two versions of “Happy Fin,” plus “Can You Feel It” and “Run The Game.” (Original Japanese text by Saito)
