LEO GIBBON—whose mixtape blending Safaraz Rock and Yardlovers was a hit at our store—has dropped a new release on his own label, *MUDLINE*! Featuring six tracks—starting with “Harkens” (sample 1), where sluggish downtempo dub, sweet keyboards, and screwed vocals melt together—this release makes full use of sampling, processing, and irregular loops to create a mysterious atmosphere! Also worth noting is “Chapel North” (sample 3), featuring the prominent MC work of JAMES MASSIAH—known for his work as DJ ESCROW with DEAN BLUNT’s BABYFATHER and for his contributions to MASSIVE ATTACK’s projects—which stands out for its unique contrast.
