Osaka-based artist 7FO, also known as N. Kawata, presents *Water Falls Into A Blank*, a work that blends dub, pop, and serene ambient sounds as seamlessly as water. Each track reflects light like the surface of water while sending out ripples, gradually transforming into a pool of sound teeming with tiny forms of life. As 7FO himself describes this work as “curious, quiet, and humorous,” it features a coexistence of sudden bursts of energy and long-lasting, meditative moments.
This work was originally created as part of the “See” series at “Commend,” a space operated by RVNG Intl. on New York’s Lower East Side. In this series, which pairs sound artists with visual artists, 7FO’s partner was Nick Ozgunay, who works under the name “Annexe” creating dyed textiles and other works. The cover features a red panda imprinted on paper. The original 2016 release was available exclusively as a limited-edition artist’s edition LP and cassette, each of which featured a one-of-a-kind indigo-dyed fabric sleeve and a silkscreen cover created by Ozgunay.
