Going strong! The second release from Israeli artist JEAN CLAUDE GAVRI’s new label, 〈RESTORE〉! Featuring EZLV, estephe, JEAN CLAUDE GAVRI, and MONDO DISCO.
The label’s flagship artist, JEAN CLAUDE GAVRI, gives a Chicago-style update to “Trapped” (sample 1) by CORONEL ABRAMS—a soul singer who was active during the height of the bubble economy and whose style seems to carry on the legacy of Teddy Pentaglass’s baritone voice! Also featured are the Canadian duo EZLV, who’ve reimagined Bohanon’s classic “Let’s Start The Dance” (sample 2) as an instrumental tech-house track; Swiss artist estephe; and the female boogie singer who is an indispensable part of the sound of DR. BUZZARD’s ORIJINAL SAVANNAH BAND, CORY DAYE’s obscure disco-pop track “Pow wow” (sample 3), and to top it all off, a dub-infused version of “Moody”—the signature track by New York cold funk group ESG—produced by veteran DAVE JAY a.k.a. MONDO DISCO, who made the switch from the major labels. This four-track rework compilation has it all!
