CACOPHONIC, the reissue label devoted to hidden treasures of electronic and experimental music founded under the Finders Keepers umbrella, keeps unearthing one incredible gem after another. This time it's a collection of rare early recordings from 1957-1962 by STRUCTURES SONORES LASRY-BASCHET, the historic French team who pioneered sound-sculpture performance and sound art.

On a par with Harry Partch, they built numerous highly artistic instruments of their own devising, and the total art of their performances captivated everyone from Edgard Varese to Ravi Shankar at the time. This isn't musique concrete or electronic music but sound sculpture — artistically and historically precious performance recordings with a poetic elegance unique to France, distinctly different in flavor from anything American. There's something dubby and minimal in the resonance that draws you in, too. A classic reissue, now in stock. (Original Japanese text by COMPUMA)
