African head Charge's masterpiece "Off The Beaten Track" from 1986, their milestone, a folk music primitive sci-fi strangely powerful dub that transcended the boundaries of reggae and dub, has been remastered and reissued on vinyl with the bass amplified by Berlin Dub Plate & Mastering. Remastered analog reissue with sleeve notes by Steve Barker (On The Wire) and DL code. Simultaneous reissue of four of their early albums from 1981-1986, which had been hard to find. (Reggae Bulletin, 2.8.2016)

Strange and Great is one word. Originally released in 1986, "Off The Beaten Track" still offers a new sound that is forward-thinking and straddles the line between dub and electronic music. Programmed chants and unique sounds (dog barking, breaking glass, gypsy violin loops, etc.) are placed over smooth rhythms. A landmark in the fusion of sampling technology and live instrumental sounds, the album was recorded by Jah Wobble (Public Image Limited), Skip McDonald (Sugarhill Gang/Tackhead), and Albert Einstein (The Theory of Relativity)! The sound pressure and bass sound of this re-mastered reissue is very interesting for those who already own the analog recordings. Total 9 tracks. Again, each of the first 4 titles is amazing.
