Just the other day, Aguirre released a worldwide-first, limited-edition remastered vinyl of Steve Reich—the father of minimal music—’s 1970 psychedelic minimal masterpiece —“Four Organ” and “Phase Patterns”—were released as the world’s first official remastered vinyl edition, limited to 100 copies, but they sold out in the blink of an eye and went out of print. Now, however, the prestigious U.S. label Superior Viaduct has released another limited-edition vinyl reissue. It features a deluxe gatefold sleeve.
Track List

Influenced by the polyrhythms of African music and the music of Bali, Indonesia, this masterpiece—a defining work of Reich’s early career—was created in 1969. It stands as a monument to minimalism, establishing an overwhelming aesthetic of awakening through the moiré patterns and shifts created by repetition. The performance—by Steve Reich himself and an incredible lineup of his friends at the time—Philip Glass, Art Murphy, and Jon Gibson—features simple yet deeply evocative layers of electronic organ that truly resonate. It’s a pure joy to hear this masterpiece in analog. Peace!!! Even if you missed out on the AGUIRRE release, please give this a listen. (Original Japanese text by COMPUMA)
