The solo project of Koshiro Hino, who has been shaking up the Kansai scene with GOAT, BONANZAS, and BIRDFRIEND. At long last, an album release on EM RECORDS!

Koshiro Hino, aka YPY, delivers his first internationally distributed album!

Hino recently pulled off a successful Tokyo premiere of his large-scale composition "Virginal Variations," and attention from home and abroad is mounting. Now the first worldwide release from his solo project YPY finally arrives. An undisputed talent of the 2010s, his humility stands in inverse proportion to a formidable artistic voice—one far too large to be contained by an underground club, with creative power constantly bursting at the seams. Though YPY spends his days playing live and recording, actual releases have been few, which makes this album all the more valuable. Here he offers a raw, instinctive and multifaceted exploration of rhythm, quite unlike the stoic approach of goat, the band he leads. This time his close ally Yosuke Yukimatsu advised on track selection, helping fix those impulses in album form. Dense, compressed, weighty sound: the style is electronic music, but one of YPY's hallmarks is a strange organic quality, alive like indigenous African music—something tied to his use of cassette tape in shaping the sound. The title track "Zurirhythm" is a wondrously mysterious piece born from turning an accidental equipment malfunction to his advantage, and it's YPY's very first recording!
