The opening track, “If Possible, Love” (sample 1), features a sound full of gaps, dry drum tones reminiscent of rubber marbles, and a dope groove driven by percussion and the bassline, the eerie steel guitar and tropical marimba tones, the ephemeral beauty that is two sides of the same coin as the dark, mad undercurrent flowing through the entire album—conveyed through the lyrics and vocals—and the unique musical world enveloped in the transient, otherworldly love and soul—all draw you into this provocative yet masterful work. All 10 tracks are the kind you’ll find yourself listening to over and over again. The instrumental versions on the bonus CD are also top-notch as easy-listening background music for a new era. Naturally, I highly recommend this album as well. Track 4, “Oni Taiji” (sample 2), is a slow funk and disco track with fantastic call-and-response vocals in a high-pitched voice. Track 8, “Manuke da ne” (sample 3)—be sure to check out these three samples, of course, as well as the full track list.
