A superb new release, number 11, from Berlin's MAEVE label — the same imprint behind ISOLEE's brilliant "Mangroove," a long-running seller here at the shop. The spatial sound design that only a KOMPAKT-affiliated label can pull off, paired with an electronic disco-minimal horizon that seems to be searching for the door to a new dimension of meditational science, keeps unfolding alongside gorgeous grooves. From the midsection on, the mystical Oriental new age synths work beautifully too. Highly recommended.
The skills of veteran craftsman MANO LE TOUGH — Ireland/Berlin-based, with releases on PRINS THOMAS's INTERNASJONAL, Hamburg's MIRAU, and Munich's Permanent Vacation — are on full display here, as you'd expect. Side B's "Arganol" (Sample 2) is downright dangerous: twilight-awakening minimal grooves and a constructive aesthetic of effective, uniquely sound-effect-like synths that wobble and drift with a knowing, lingering impact — pure nirvana trippin'.
