A masterpiece of imaginative, high-taste modern electronic audio collage — a yokai travelogue by Eiko Ishibashi titled "Hyakki Yako" (Night Parade of One Hundred Demons)!!! Released on the ever-reliable BLACK TRUFFLE!!! Limited white vinyl LP, with liner notes by the artist herself and a mix by Jim O'Rourke. The cover artwork by Shuhei Abe is superb as well. The label had been out of stock for a long time, but we've finally been able to restock this long-awaited repress (2025)!!!

This work was created for "Japan Supernatural," an exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, themed around ghost stories and folktales from the Edo period onward. Featuring sound collage, synth, piano, flute, and voice by Eiko Ishibashi, recitations by Ryuichi Fujimura of poems by the 15th-century Muromachi-era poet Ikkyu Sojun, drums by Joe Talia, and double bass by Jim O'Rourke, it draws on the methods and lineage of the Western experimental and avant-garde pioneers while striking a one-of-a-kind balance with Japanese traditional music and the literary tradition of yokai — a masterful, imaginative acoustic-electronic audio collage that slowly and deliberately tells the story of the yokai world. This much-talked-about title is now in stock!!! (Original Japanese text by COMPUMA)
