The Young Marble Giants consisted of three members: guitarist and songwriter Stuart Moxham, his brother, bassist Philip Moxham, and singer Alison Stanton. To commemorate the 40th anniversary of *Colossal Youth*—their only album, released in 1980, which remains a landmark of minimalist pop and is still cherished by many music fans today—Domino is reissuing it as the *Colossal Youth 40th Anniversary Edition*, complete with a DVD! In addition to the album *Colossal Youth*, this release includes tracks from rare EPs and compilations such as *Salad Days*, *Is The War Over*, *Final Day*, and the *Testcard EP*. It also comes with a live DVD featuring their rare 1980 U.S. performances in New York.
Reportedly recorded in just five days, *Colossal Youth* influenced scenes from Sheffield, England, to Seattle, Washington, and has been cited by Kurt Cobain, Courtney Love, Belle & Sebastian, David Byrne, Sonic Youth, and The Magnetic Fields—all key artists and bands in music history—have openly declared themselves fans of the band. Composed of a minimalist sound driven by a unique vocal style, guitar, bass, and a rhythm box, this album features a sound that only the Young Marble Giants could create and is cited as one of the most important records in the post-punk genre. *The DVD is NTSC region-free and can be played on standard Japanese DVD players.
