As the duo SWAG—comprising RICHARD BROWN, an engineer for 〈WARP〉 releases, and veteran CHRIS DUCKENFIELD, also known for his work with PPF—they began their career on labels such as 〈JUNIOR BOY’S OWN〉 and 〈JUS’ TRAX〉, but but left the label due to a falling-out with TERRY FARLEY. Now, the first release from their self-founded cult label, 〈PRIMITIVE〉—"Primitive Urges Vol. 1"—is being remastered and reissued!

Released in 1997 on the cult label 〈PRIMITIVE〉, which focused on DJ tools—while also running the independent label 〈VERSION〉, which released two albums, and 〈ODORI〉, featuring a diverse lineup of crossover artists—most of whose releases were credited anonymously. “Primitive Urges Vol. 1,” a collection of tribal and effect-heavy minimal tracks that was played by Takkyu and Fumiya at the time, has received an unexpected reissue! Featuring four remastered tracks from the rare original release—including the closing B2 “Untitled” (sample 3), with its soaring, vast synth work that leaves a lasting impression—don’t miss this opportunity.
