Shuto Kabeyashu, Motonori Okamura, Seiya Morioka, and Masakazu Oda—comprise the hardcore punk band “ODD EYES.” Their 2018 second album, *Self Portrait*, showcased a sound that absorbed post-punk, no wave, avant-garde, funk, and a variety of other genres. While retaining that irregular groove as its foundation, this new release feels as though the band is confronting hardcore punk with the pure, unadulterated intensity of its early days. Provocative lyrics that pierce both the self and others, paired with crystal-clear, emotional lead vocals.
