This album, with its dreamy, ethereal house/downbeat vibe, was recorded in 1997—a time when a new wave was emerging in the early days of Japanese club music. The masterpiece “Fruits of the Room” by the late legend Susumu Yokota, released under the alias STEVIA on CD in 1997 via Newstage Records/NS-COM, is now being remastered and released for the first time on vinyl by Spain’s Glossy Mistakes, alongside “Greenpeace,” which was produced and released around the same time.

For him and DJ MIKU, the owner of Newstage Records/NS-COM, this work was created after an era shaped by the overlap of late-1960s American psychedelic culture, the lingering influence of UK acid house and rave, the New Age movement, and cyberpunk—all of which had converged during that era—resulted in a style distinct from the strict hip-hop sensibility: breakbeat techno/ house—a style distinct from strictly hip-hop sensibilities—as well as the dreamy aesthetic of ’90s house music, experimental drum-and-bass prototypes, and electronica. This unique and breathtaking soundscape exudes a burst of creative genius. Features all 11 tracks from the LP. A 2-disc set of 33 rpm 12-inch vinyl. (Original Japanese text by COMPUMA)
