A sound where modern digital and computer culture intersects with nature-oriented New Age — ambient music in the lineage of Satie, with hints of video game music and soundtracks. COOL MARITIME's new album "Big Earth Energy" is another leap forward from the last one. Now in stock!

Sean Hellfritsch grew up surfing in Santa Cruz, California; he's a DIY computer-animation filmmaker, a nature lover, and runs a farm with friends. His pursuit is modular electronics. Following his much-talked-about 2nd album "Sharing Waves" — released on cassette by Leaving Records and later pressed to vinyl — and the remix companion "Shared Waves" featuring CARLOS NINO, Matthewdavid, Tomutonttu, DNTL and his partner Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, his new album arrives on the long-running Austin, Texas independent label WESTERN VINYL. The depth of the modular tones and the gorgeous, almost visual sound imagery created by interweaving melodies. "Big Earth Energy," "This Music Is for the Tree Frogs." There's a playful side too — "How to Converse with Moss," where he embeds synths in old-growth forest moss and plays them — yet the album is charged with a modern psychedelic energy and rewards deep listening.
