If you live anywhere outside of Richmond Virginia you may have never heard of Sharpp. The group formed in the early 80s consisting of high school friends led by keyboard player Josh Fertel. They played cover songs mainly, performing around the fan, and at high school dances. With some gig money they managed to record two original titles at the defunct Harbor Sounds Studios. That would be their sole output, released locally on a 7” single, handed out to band members, friends and fam.

I’m sure very few of you have ever heard of Sharpp. That’s because they were a local band formed in the early ’80s by a group of high school friends centered around keyboardist Josh Fertel. They mainly played cover songs, performing for fans and at high school dance parties to earn gig money, and eventually recorded two original songs at the now-defunct Harbor Sounds Studios. This became their only release—a 7-inch single released locally and shared only among friends—but PPU managed to track it down. Of course, there’s no record of the original on Discogs, haha. Perfect for a DJ’s interlude. (Original Japanese text by AYAM)
