To date, Sonic Boom has contributed to Panda Bear’s solo albums *Tomboy* (2011) and *Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper* (2015), but this is the first time they have collaborated on every track.
This album consists of tracks inspired by Sonic Boom’s collection of 1950s and 1960s American doo-wop and rock ’n’ roll records. The lead single, “Go On,” a modern psychedelic masterpiece has been born—complete with a stunning music video that samples the 1967 classic “Give It to Me” by the kings of British garage rock, The Troggs. In addition, songs by artists such as the great rock ’n’ roller Eddie Cochran and the Everly Brothers—known for their wonderful harmonies—have been reimagined by Sonic Boom with psychedelic and pop-infused arrangements, to which Panda Bear’s instrumentation and vocals are exquisitely layered, resulting in a track that’s even crazier, catchier, sweeter, and brighter than any of their previous solo work—which is, once again, dangerously good.
