Ronnie Barron, who along with Dr. John was at the heart of the New Orleans sound, made the classic 1978 album "The Smile of Life" under Haruomi Hosono's production, and it now returns on vinyl LP, remastered by Makoto Kubota, the record's co-producer.

The New Orleans sessions feature Dr. John and members of The Meters, while the Tokyo sessions bring in members of Tin Pan Alley and Yuyake Gakudan. This deep sound, bridging New Orleans and Tokyo, has lost none of its appeal over the years.
